NUST NET 2027 Guide

Important NUST Entry Test information for candidates preparing for undergraduate admission in Fall 2027.

NUST NET 2027 Registration Dates

According to NUST's current undergraduate admissions schedule, NET-2027 Series 1 online registration is scheduled from 4 October to 14 November 2026. Series 1 computer-based testing is scheduled to begin 17 November 2026 onward in Islamabad.

NUST lists additional NET series during 2026-27. Candidates should check the official NUST schedule because dates can be tentative and may be updated by the university.

NET 2027 Test Locations and Format

NUST states that NET is conducted at Islamabad, Karachi, Quetta, and Gilgit. Computer-based NET is conducted at Islamabad and Quetta, while paper-based testing is conducted at Karachi and Gilgit.

Candidates can appear in NET more than once to improve their score. NUST states that the best NET score is considered for merit generation, while only one attempt is allowed in a particular discipline during a single series.

NET Subjects and Weightings

The NET paper depends on the candidate's academic background and the programme being applied for.

NET-Engineering

  • Mathematics — 50%
  • Physics — 30%
  • English — 20%

NUST states that NET-Engineering is used for Engineering and Computing programmes and is also applicable to certain other programmes according to their admission criteria.

NET-Applied Sciences

  • Biology — 50%
  • Chemistry — 30%
  • English — 20%

NET-Business Studies & Social Sciences

  • Quantitative Mathematics — 50%
  • English — 50%

NET-Architecture

  • Design Aptitude — 50%
  • Mathematics — 30%
  • English — 20%

NET-Natural Sciences

  • Mathematics — 50%
  • English — 50%

NUST Merit Formula

For general undergraduate admission on NET basis, NUST currently lists the following merit weighting:

  • NUST Entry Test — 75%
  • SSC / O Level / equivalent — 10%
  • HSSC Part-I / HSSC / A Level / equivalent / DAE — 15%

Important Eligibility Notes

NUST's published eligibility information states that candidates must generally have at least 60% marks in SSC and HSSC or the applicable equivalent qualification. Specific programme requirements can differ, so candidates should verify the eligibility criteria for their intended programme.

O and A Level candidates should enter marks according to their official IBCC equivalence certificate rather than using self-calculated equivalence marks.

Important 2027 Note for Pre-Medical Students

NUST's current NET-2027 update states that FSc Pre-Medical students who did not take additional Mathematics and are applying for Engineering programmes must complete NUST's mandatory 8-week online Mathematics course before 25 July 2027 and secure at least 60% in that course to become part of the merit for Fall 2027 entry.

NUST also states that Pre-Medical candidates entering Computing programmes without additional Mathematics have deficient Mathematics courses to clear according to the university's stated requirements.

How to Apply for NET

  1. Visit the official NUST undergraduate admissions portal.
  2. Register using a valid email address.
  3. Complete the online application form accurately.
  4. Upload the required photograph and submit the form.
  5. Re-login and obtain the fee invoice.
  6. Pay the applicable processing fee using an available payment method.
  7. For computer-based testing, select an available test date and session.
  8. Follow the official instructions for the assigned test centre and admit card.
